Here at Team Micro we’re real good at identifying talent. Literally thousands of treatments cross our desks every year, we speak with hundreds of clients and technicians, and we host the annual awards at the Meeting Of Minds. When it comes to identifying quality work, we know what to look for.
Chris Herrera first flagged on our radar in 2017. We’d heard a few people talking about a new artist making waves in Washington DC, so we dropped in a call and got to know the guy.
Over the last couple of years we’ve closely followed Chris’ work. Inevitably we’ve also had calls from a number of his clients, seen his reviews and heard the opinions of other artists in the business. One thing is clear – Chris Herrera is a star player in SMP and is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the best there is. No doubt.
I met Chris for the first time at our 2019 conference in London, and although things were hectic as you’d expect, we made time to hang out. Chris was not what I expected. Here was a guy who, despite his obvious talents, was also humble and approachable and clearly passionate about his work. I understand that almost every client who meets him ends up booking a procedure, and it’s easy to see why.
At the Team Micro Awards ceremony on the second night, Chris unsurprisingly scooped one of our biggest awards. Voted for by other industry professionals, his win summarized in a way how far he has really come. It’ll be interesting to see how he does at our 2020 event when his skills and reputation have developed even further than they already have.
We’re not the only company to take notice of Chris’ ability with a needle. In early 2019 he was snapped up by leading manufacturer Microbeau as a member of their Apollo Pro Team, an accolade reserved for only the best artists in the world. Microbeau is Chris’ full sponsor and use his knowledge for testing new machines, needles and products before they go into production.
Chris Herrera has more recently been drafted in as an educator on the scalp micropigmentation process. Initially offering training courses from his Washington DC office, demand for his expertise has seen Chris travel across the United States to host classes and one-on-one training programs. In fact, more and more of his clients now fly in from out of state, and even from overseas, to have their procedures at The Art Of SMP.
What should you expect?
First off, we advise all clients to check his portfolio. You can find Chris’ work in his website gallery, his Facebook page and on his Instagram. It’s always helpful to let Chris know what kind of styles you like so he can create a treatment plan for you based on your preferences. Being able to point out examples of his work that you like is always a great place to start.
The next step is to arrange a consultation. This is free of charge and without obligation. Consultations can be arranged by phone (call 301-503-0762) or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you’re travelling some distance, you can actually book your procedure straight away and discuss your specific needs on arrival.
Upon arrival, clients can expect a warm welcome. Before any procedure takes place, a consultation takes place to ensure you know what to expect, and to clarify exactly what you are hoping to achieve so Chris can produce the best result for you in line with your expectations.
Most treatments take place over 2-4 sessions, spaced at least one week apart. Each session usually lasts 2-3 hours. When your treatment is complete, you are provided with full aftercare guidance so you know how best to maintain your new look. Chris is passionate about client aftercare, so anything you need in the weeks and months following your procedure, he’s there to help.
