Scalp micropigmentation will have a profound impact on your life. Choose a great technician and get a great result, and the impact will be immeasurably positive. Pick the wrong clinic and get a bad result, and the impact will be equally profound, just not in the way you intended. Either way, the lasting impact on your happiness should not be taken lightly, nor should the thought process that goes into deciding whether or not to get this done, and who to trust to do the job well.
Here at Team Micro, we believe strongly in research. In fact we have an entire section dedicated to pre-treatment research, backed up by a Directory of providers to choose from. Knowing what you’re getting into is incredibly important. Fools rush in.
However, there is a point at which people procrastinate and justify doing so by labelling it as research. It’s human nature to procrastinate when faced with a major decision, because many of us are scared of making the wrong choice. Of messing up. So we procrastinate. We micro-analyze everything to the point of insanity, subconsciously seeking either a cast-iron guarantee that everything will be okay, or an excuse to back out.
The problem is – there are no cast-iron guarantees, and there are plenty of excuses to choose from to back out.
Put your choices into context
Of course there is always a risk associated with scalp micropigmentation. Despite what many companies would have you believe, all technicians are not equal. No amount of training or experience causes all technicians to perform the same way. Technicians also have good and bad days, and there are many temptations that will no doubt cross your path, like cut-price offers from providers you’ve never heard of.
In the real world however, you are very likely to achieve a good result if you don’t make bad or ill-informed decisions. Choose a company with a good reputation. Ask to see examples of work by the technician you’re allocated to. Don’t ask for crazy stupid hairlines and don’t try to look 21 when you’re 41.
The risk of inaction
You might think that taking action is risky, but let me tell you, not taking action is even riskier. If I had a dime for everyone who ever said to me…. “I only wish I’d done it sooner”. Seriously.
Imagine doing a parachute jump for the first time. You psyche yourself up for the big day. You talk yourself out of it a thousand times. You imagine every terrible scenario. But once you’re in the air having the time of your life, all of those worries melt away and you feel amazing. Getting scalp micropigmentation is a bit like that.
A (quick) word of caution
Procrastination has its benefits. It’s a great filtering mechanism for bad providers and gives you more opportunity to figure out if you’re really doing the right thing.
I’m not against research, and I’m not against taking your time. I urge you to do as much research as necessary to come to the right decision. However, once you’ve made the decision to proceed, then….. proceed. Without delay. Otherwise you’ll eventually talk yourself out of it and miss out on a golden opportunity to recapture your confidence.
Everyone deserves to be happy. Don’t be your own biggest hurdle.
