In true Meeting of Minds style, our 2024 conference focuses on two key areas – technique enhancement and business development.

Meeting Of Minds is about education, and providing the knowledge and tools artists can adopt into their businesses. Join us and gain a new perspective, be inspired, learn something new and forge friendships that last your entire SMP career and beyond.

We want everyone to enjoy the full Meeting Of Minds experience. Although a small number of Platinum VIP upgrades are available, rest assured, the important stuff including entry to the Gala Dinner and Awards is included with your Event Pass.

The SMP industry is in a constant state of change. Since their introduction in 2018, the Team Micro awards have acknowledged and rewarded the best and brightest artists, educators and innovators in SMP.

We are proud of our awards and take extraordinary measures to ensure our awards are always fair. Team Micro awards cannot be bought, and unlike others, are not swayed by popularity contests, cliques or commercial interest.

In 2024 we will recognise and award the rising stars of SMP, alongside the leading global talent, the most proficient trainers, and those who consistently over time have contributed to our industry in an extraordinary way.

How do the categories work?

Rising Star awards

These awards spotlight developing SMP artists with up to 3 years of front line experience.

Rising Star awards are split into 4 geographic territories (North America, United Kingdom, Europe and International), with three bronze, one silver and one gold award in each territory.

Artists self-nominate by providing two case studies for judging.

Best Artist awards

These awards recognize the brightest talents in SMP, with 3 years of front line experience or more.

Best Artist awards are split into 4 geographic territories (North America, United Kingdom, Europe and International), with three bronze, one silver and one gold award in each territory.

Artists self-nominate by providing two case studies for judging.

Contribution awards

These awards acknowledge remarkable contributions to the health, reputation and development of our industry by those who embody the passion and values of true SMP industry ambassadors.

The Benevolence award recognizes those who consistently donate their time and knowledge over extended periods of time, with no expectation of anything in return.
The Excellence In Education award is awarded to those who uphold and amplify the highest standards in knowledge and training.
The Innovation award is granted to those who create groundbreaking new products and services that move our industry forward.
The Outstanding Contribution award is the greatest accolade in SMP, the most desired and sought-after award of the night, and is awarded to recognise those who have done remarkable things to enhance the development and secure the future of SMP.

Artists can self-nominate for Contribution awards. Team Micro and our judging panel may also enter their own choice of nominees. Please note Team Micro has no say over the final outcome.

What has changed since the 2023 event?

We are always looking for ways to improve the awards. For 2024, we have made the following changes:

All artists with 3 years experience or more can no longer enter the Rising Star categories. They must now enter the Best Artist categories. This threshold has been reduced from 4 years to 3 years.
“United Kingdom” and “Europe” are now 2 separate geographic categories. Last year, artists entered a combined “UK & Europe” category.
Artists may now self-nominate themselves for recognition in the Contribution Awards categories.
In response to popular demand, our 2024 awards ceremony will be live-streamed on social media to enable Finalists who cannot attend to experience the awards first-hand. Please note that no other part of the conference will be live-streamed, and confirmed Finalists who cannot attend in person will still require a Finalist Ticket to remain in contention for their nominated award category.

The judging process

Enter your nomination. Ensure you enter yourself into the correct category. You will need to submit two case studies, each consisting of up to two before and two after photos.
Your case studies are assessed by our Founder and our internal judging panel. Your work is assessed and scored against 3 criteria – Technique, Consistency and Overall Outcome. The top 25% of nominations progress to the next round.
If your entry makes it to the final stage, we will confirm your Finalist status. You are in the final stages of winning an award at the most coveted ceremony in SMP. If you have not yet booked your seat at Meeting Of Minds, we will invite you to do so. If you are unable to attend in person, you can purchase a low price Finalist Ticket. A Finalist Ticket enables your nomination to progress to the final round. If you have not purchased your attendance ticket or finalist ticket by 31 July 2024, your Finalist status will be forfeited.
Your case studies are assessed by a 3 judges at random from our pool. Our pool of judges consists of the speakers, demonstrators and expert panellists presenting at Meeting Of Minds. The scoring method remains the same. Your scores are totalled and the winners are decided. Please note, Team Micro has no influence over the result. Winners are decided by our judging panel only, and all decisions are final.
The Team Micro Awards are presented at Meeting Of Minds during the Gala Dinner on Friday 25 October 2024 in Nashville. All Finalists will receive a certificate to mark their achievement. Winners are announced on stage, presented with a trophy and interviewed, a copy of which will be provided.

FAQs and terms

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?

Yes! We understand certification is important. You may even be required by your local authority, state, country or by a professional membership body to prove you are engaging in continuing education. You will receive a hard copy certificate of attendance upon arrival, certifying 16 hours of continuing education.

Are tickets refundable?

Ticket purchases can be cancelled and refunded in full until 30 June 2024 inclusive.

Thereafter, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable. However, in the unlikely event that Meeting Of Minds is postponed or cancelled, a full refund will be provided.

Will I be charged Sales Tax / GST / VAT?

As a company headquartered in the UK, we are obliged to apply VAT to all transactions by United Kingdom and EU citizens.

If you are not a citizen of the United Kingdom or the EU, sales tax will not be applied.

What Is Team Micro?

Established in the United Kingdom in 2009. Team Micro is the world’s leading business growth agency for scalp micropigmentation artists. We’ve built hundreds of websites and executed close to a thousand successful SEO campaigns for some of the world’s best known artists.

We also supply thousands of clinics worldwide through our online store.

Team Micro hosted the world’s first independent scalp micropigmentation conference, Meeting Of Minds, in 2017. This was followed by our 2018 event in Manchester and our London event in 2019, before our return to Manchester in 2023.

Our 2024 event in Nashville is tipped to be the largest SMP event ever staged.

Who judges the awards?

All speakers, panellists and demonstrators at Meeting Of Minds are invited to judge the awards. During each round of judging, each nomination is allocated to three judges who have no known personal or business connection to the nominee. This ensures fair and impartial judging.

Please note the following:

The identity of judges who assess specific nominations remains strictly confidential at all times.
Nominations from event sponsors, Team Micro clients and customers, friends of the business or other stakeholders are treated the same as any other nomination. Commercial bias has no place at the Team Micro Awards.
No Team Micro employee sits on the judging panel or has any influence over its decisions.

The Team Micro Awards remain the benchmark SMP awards for fairness and impartiality, free from commercial influence and recognizing only those who win fairly and deservedly.
